It was a little difficult, writing the above piece, to hold back from using the line ‘A Turkish delight of a magazine…’ but we are pretty happy that we managed not to. Normally we love to use a good pun, but to do so in describing Cornucopia would have been to unfairly tarnish the sheer quality of the publication.

This lies somewhere between an art, travel, academic and culture publication, choosing to fill its pages with a rich assortment of features on all things Turkish. They certainly chose the title well; it truly is a veritable cornucopia of information, history, culture and more.

We have to say that before getting our hands on this rather lovely publication we didn’t know all that much about Turkey. We had the vague idea that it occupied a fascinating geographical space, perched between the cultures of the West and the East and influenced by both, but we had no idea about the depth and richness of the culture and the people there. If you are thinking of going to Turkey – and a trip there sounds like a great idea to us – then a copy or two of Cornucopia will help you appreciate every little nuance of the impressive nation. Just try not to get Istanbul (Not Constantinople) stuck in your head, or you’ll be humming it all day long. NB
